Scarlet Night + Theme Events

The signature VV experience and what to wear for it.

The ship goes red.

Fire dancers, surprise performances, and a deck party that runs until morning.

Scarlet Night is VV's signature theme event — the one night per sailing where the entire ship converts into an immersive party. Red lighting takes over the common areas, the deck becomes a performance stage, fire dancers appear, DJs take over multiple venues simultaneously, and everyone (in red, ideally) gets swept up in it.

It's not a scheduled show at a theater — it's the whole ship, all at once, from about 9 PM to 3+ AM. The Manor nightclub reaches its peak energy, The Perch hosts acrobatic performances, and the pool deck becomes the main stage.

All Theme Nights

Scarlet Night

Every sailing

The flagship event. Fire dancers, deck takeover, Manor after-party. Builds from 9 PM onward.

Wear:

Red — any shade, any silhouette. The more, the better.

PJ Party

Most 5+ night sailings

Exactly what it sounds like — cozy attire, late-night bites, and a relaxed but festive vibe. Often the most fun for introverts.

Wear:

Pajamas, robes, onesies, lounge sets.

VHS Workout Night

5-7 night sailings

Vintage fitness aesthetic, high-energy music. Surprisingly popular for people who commit to the outfit.

Wear:

80s/90s workout gear — leotards, headbands, tube socks, windbreakers.

We Fancy

Longer sailings + Caribbean

Upscale evening attire. The closest VV gets to a traditional 'formal night' — but without the requirement.

Wear:

Elevated, glam, 'dressed to impress' — but not formal or black-tie.

Packing for Theme Nights

What to Pack

One red outfit (Scarlet Night)

Dress, romper, suit, or even just a bold red top. All counts.

Pajamas or lounge set (PJ Party)

Even a nice robe works. Pack something you'd actually wear to bed.

Workout-ish gear

A vintage-style windbreaker or leggings with a bold print covers it.

Cocktail attire for We Fancy

One elevated outfit that isn't beachwear is sufficient.

Comfortable shoes for late nights

Scarlet Night involves hours of standing, dancing, and moving between venues.

"Dress up, dress down, just dress." That's the actual VV policy. You won't be turned away for wearing jeans to We Fancy or navy to Scarlet Night. The dress codes are invitations, not requirements. Most people participate because it's genuinely fun — not out of obligation.

Frequently Asked

Is Scarlet Night the only theme night? +
No. VV has several theme nights per sailing — Scarlet Night is the flagship, but most 5+ night sailings also include a PJ Party (pajamas encouraged), VHS Workout Night (80s/90s fitness gear), and We Fancy (upscale glam). Each has its own dress code suggestion, though all are optional.
Is the red dress code mandatory for Scarlet Night? +
Not at all. VV's ethos is 'dress up, dress down, just dress.' Red is encouraged and creates the collective atmosphere, but no one is turned away for wearing other colors. Most people participate because it makes the night more fun, not because they're required to.
When does Scarlet Night happen during the sailing? +
Usually on the second or third night for most sailings. On shorter 3–4 night sailings, it's night 2. Check the app once onboard — the official schedule is published there.
What actually happens at Scarlet Night? +
The ship transforms starting around 9 PM. Deck parties, fire dancers, live DJ sets across multiple venues, surprise performances, red lighting everywhere, and a massive after-party at The Manor that runs until the early hours. It builds throughout the night.
